The Mar e Sol restaurant (belonging to Pensão Pavilhão Mar e Sol) is the main restaurant in Berlengas. It has a lovely terrace, with a beautiful view of the beach and the sea.

It has excellent table service, delicious food, and a very affordable price. The most recommended dishes are, of course, grilled fish (fresh) or fish stews.

It is the only restaurant worthy of the name that exists in Berlengas. It is also the only place to sleep with some comfort in the archipelago, which is integrated into the houses of Bairro dos Pescadores. It has a large terrace where the house specialties are served, fish-based dishes, emphasizing the great stew that can be eaten here.

Keep in mind that being the only place to eat, it can sometimes take work to get a table. In terms of prices, prepare around 15 euros for the complete meal. Please note that the Mar e Sol restaurant is closed all year, starting its seasonal activity in mid-May and ending in September.

Fort of São João Baptista

Besides the rooms, the Fort of São João Baptista also has a mini market and a restaurant, a place you must visit to prepare your food.

It is possible to have a meal in the fort, with a specific unpredictability factor, because everything there works very informally. What exists there is not a restaurant. It’s more like a tavern, and the menu is whatever it is on the day. You might get some steaks, hot dogs, or a plate with cod cakes.

Count on an average value of 7 euros. Note, however, that you must be a guest to access the fort’s tavern. Whoever comes to spend the day in Berlengas or spend the night elsewhere will not be able to count on this possibility.
